Food aid to people in Gaza has been reduced to levels that support barely half the population.  The quotes below supply historical perspective on this famine and are drawn from comments by Michael Fakhri, former UN Special Rapporteur on the Right to Food, broadcast in a news report posted on YouTube (Why the UN has just cut food aid to Gaza | DW News - YouTube) by Deutsche Welle, a German public broadcaster:

"...This is a longstanding starvation campaign that has destroyed the Palestinian people's ability to feed themselves."

"This is a death sentence... The thing to remember is that Israel has imposed a blockade against Gaza since the year 2000. And so, for over 25 years now, they've been living under siege conditions."

"It's hard to explain the horror of starvation and reliance on humanitarian aid, and I think a great example comes from Ireland. To this day, the Great Famine, that was caused by the British Empire, in which the British starved the Irish, remains a social trauma carried through generations."

I grew up Irish Catholic. In the past decade, I've identified that trauma in my own family. I understand what Sinead O'Connor was singing about in "Famine." And now I'm being made complicit in another manufactured famine.

I understand that Israeli governments have acted out their own intergenerational social trauma by imposing famine on Palestinians. I understand that white European Christians imposed that trauma on Jewish people.

I understand that the Nazis were an especially virulent outbreak of the disease of genocide, and I understand that what Nazis did in Europe was an especially intense version of what the British and French ruling classes did in Africa and Asia and Ireland. I understand that Muslim and Jewish people have been pitted against each other in the Levant because of a Zionist policy that has continued the work of the Nazis by further draining Europe of Jewish people.

And I see that the British and French ruling classes have not repaid what they stole, because it's all about money and rich folk valuing their acknowledged children so far beyond the value they assign other children that they destroy their own souls.

Remember Luke's Lazarus, and do something now about famine in Gaza and the global famine being manufactured via the Iran War, the Ukraine War, the ICE persecution of farm workers, the concentration of wealth via the artificial intelligence bubble, and fiscal policy explicitly designed to concentrate wealth.
